Mr. Stobaugh's Classroom

About Mr. Stobaugh:

My name is David Stobaugh.  I have lived in Bowling Green since 1996.  I have been teaching for 9 years and this is my 2nd year at Moss Middle School.  I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor's degree and then attended Western Kentucky University for my Master's Degree.  I also hold a Rank 1 administration certificate. In addition to teaching Social Studies, I will be assisting with baseball this spring.  I have been married to my wife, Beckie, for 11 years and have two outstanding children, Parker and Ainsley.

My Philosophy on Teaching:

I think that both teaching and learning should be fun.  I want my students to understand that history is about problem solving and critical thinking.  It can not be learned solely from a textbook and for that reason we will be active learners searching to understand history by acting in skits, creating posters, working on projects, and seeking to always answer the most important question...."Why?"

Overall Goal:

The 8 Blue team has set our goal this year to score 100 or higher on the CATS (statewide assessment) test.  Even though we have been together only a month, I think we may have set the goal too LOW!!  This group has great potential.  I think we can easily score over 100.  BRING ON THE CATS!!
